Spa Modesty- Girl Talk Discussion

It's Friday doll faces and there is some thing I have been dying to discuss with you!  I recently went to a fabulous spa to get a pre-natal massage and enjoy some "me" time.  I was extra excited because I had never been to this spa and I couldn't wait to be pampered.  I walked up the beautiful staircase and entered the ladies locker room.  I was the only woman in there, which is my kind of privacy.  I quickly undressed, put on my robe, and waited in the relaxation room with the latest issue of In Style Magazine,  waiting to be called for my massage.

After an hour of pure relaxation, I returned back to the woman's locker room only to find that this time I would not be alone.  There were three woman in there getting ready for their services.  I have never been a fan of women's locker rooms for the pure reason that I don't particularly like to undress in front of other woman.  I know we have the same body parts and it is totally acceptable to be without undergarments in this space, but for me, no bueno.  I do not find a need to display myself, let alone my pregnant self to a room full of strange woman.

I didn't let this situation stress me out, especially since I just came out of a massage, so I collected my belongings from my locker and went into a private bathroom stall to get dressed.  When I came out, all three woman were naked! Now, I'm not sure if they were fully naked because I was not going to stare or check them out, but there was a whole lot of boobies going on! I was cursing my peripheral vision at this point because even though I was focusing straight ahead, I could still see out of the corners of my eyes!   My comfort level dropped to a negative zero and I couldn't get out of there fast enough!

To add insult to injury, these woman were having trouble finding lockers that were available so now they are walking over to each locker trying to shake them opened (need I remind you they were topless?)  When one woman placed herself right next to me and asked how I got into my locker,  I was responding back to her without making eye contact, which was super super awkward!!!! I was thinking "Hey lady, you don't have a top on, go get one and I will give you all the help you need!"  I tried my best to help as quickly as possible and I hauled my now not so relaxed self out of there!!!

So this is where you come in Glam Squad! Can you please answer these questions by leaving them in the comment section below?
1. Am I crazy or do these situations bother you too?
2. Do you believe that once the woman realized they couldn't get into a locker to get a robe they should've thrown their shirts back on until they found something to cover up with?
3. What do you believe is the appropriate locker room etiquette?
4. Have you ever been in a situation like this? If so, please share!

I would like to keep this a fun and light discussion, no insulting or mean language, just some girl- talk type of discussion!

Thank for stopping by and I hope you join in!

  2. Hahaha, too funny!! I agree I've never been one to frolic around naked at the spa or any women's change room for that matter. I think it is awkward especially if they are trying to talk to you. Have a great weekend Marianne:)

  5. Hehe this is too funny--I am so with you and agree 100%, but I think it might be an age thing. All my girlfriends would prolly agree with us , but I know my mother thinks its totally acceptable to be naked in a locker room!! So maybe the older generation is more used to it--who knows--but I like to keep my private parts a little more private hehe

    1. I think you are right. All three woman were probably older than my mother but I think that's what may have made it even more awkward for me. Glad I am not alone! xox

  6. LOL, I am dying at you struggling to control your peripheral vision. I haven't been to a nicer spa like that but I've had those locker room experiences where there are one or two women who always walk around naked. I used to feel weird about it when I was younger but now I honestly do not care at all. Personally I like to be more covered up to walk around and what not, but it doesn't bother me if other people are comfortable in their own skin. I'm a "to each their own" kind of person!

  8. Cute picks! I would say a robe is essential for the spa
Those situations bother me too, but some people are just less modest than others. I discovered this when I went to Germany....to each their own I guess

  9. Dear Marianne, I feel exactly like you, especially as in some countries I have experienced the same situation. I'm not comfortable with other people's nudity :-) I'm sorry your relax time was spoiled!

  10. LOL! This happens to me when I go to a Korean Sauna. I thought it was an Asian thing. I always bring a towel to the shower which has no doors or courtains. I just close my eyes while I shower, then I walk to get my towel (If I could close my eyes till reach my towel I would) and I leave the room as quickly as possible... It's definitely an uncomfortable situation. We are all raised differently - I was raised surrounded by women who were very private with their bodies, so that's how I am now. I'm glad you had some time for yourself!

  11. I'm with you, I would also feel uncomfortable if I were in your situation. I understand that others are comfortable in their nudity, but I think they should be respectful of others people's boundaries. The girl who asked for help should have been able to tell that you were uncomfortable. Oh well, such is life.
