Seeing Red

Happy Friday doll faces! I have always loved red, leopard, and black ensembles. It's chic, sassy, classic.  I realized that as much as I love it, I have never tried it myself, so I created this outfit inspiration board and found some further inspiration on Pinterest.  Since it's almost February, I figured there is no better month to put this look together!  First is February 6th, National Wear Red Day, and then as we all know, February 14th, Valentines Day!
I am going  to try this look for myself by shopping my closet! Wish me luck!

Happy Wednesday my glamorous gals! I'm very happy over here! The snow predicted for New Jersey was significantly less than they expected, so the blizzard was a bust! I had snow day on Tuesday due to their predictions and got so much stuff done around the house, it was well worth the day!
I completely have come to the realization that one day I'm going to be the old lady covered in animal print, predominantly leopard.  I cannot get enough of this print in tops, shoes, accessories and the list continues.  How cute is this leopard top from Pink Blush?!?! They carry maternity and non- maternity clothing for woman at affordable prices! I am not the biggest fan of maternity clothes so anything that doesn't look like its maternity, is right up my alley!
Thanks for stopping by! The weekend is almost here, I can taste it, and the guacamole I will be eating on Super Bowl Sunday- yummers!

Hey Glam Squad! Is it Monday already? How did that happen? I feel like I just left work on Friday afternoon.  It snowed here in New Jersey this weekend and apparently we are supposed to have a blizzard today into tomorrow. They are predicting two to three feet!!! Is it summer yet?
The one thing I do love about the cold weather is winter fashion!  Riding boots, wool coats, winter hats and accessories make it much easier to get out of bed in the morning! This look is my idea of winter bliss!
Hope you have an excellent week and let's hope the weather guy got this forecast all wrong!

Spa Modesty- Girl Talk Discussion

It's Friday doll faces and there is some thing I have been dying to discuss with you!  I recently went to a fabulous spa to get a pre-natal massage and enjoy some "me" time.  I was extra excited because I had never been to this spa and I couldn't wait to be pampered.  I walked up the beautiful staircase and entered the ladies locker room.  I was the only woman in there, which is my kind of privacy.  I quickly undressed, put on my robe, and waited in the relaxation room with the latest issue of In Style Magazine,  waiting to be called for my massage.

After an hour of pure relaxation, I returned back to the woman's locker room only to find that this time I would not be alone.  There were three woman in there getting ready for their services.  I have never been a fan of women's locker rooms for the pure reason that I don't particularly like to undress in front of other woman.  I know we have the same body parts and it is totally acceptable to be without undergarments in this space, but for me, no bueno.  I do not find a need to display myself, let alone my pregnant self to a room full of strange woman.

I didn't let this situation stress me out, especially since I just came out of a massage, so I collected my belongings from my locker and went into a private bathroom stall to get dressed.  When I came out, all three woman were naked! Now, I'm not sure if they were fully naked because I was not going to stare or check them out, but there was a whole lot of boobies going on! I was cursing my peripheral vision at this point because even though I was focusing straight ahead, I could still see out of the corners of my eyes!   My comfort level dropped to a negative zero and I couldn't get out of there fast enough!

To add insult to injury, these woman were having trouble finding lockers that were available so now they are walking over to each locker trying to shake them opened (need I remind you they were topless?)  When one woman placed herself right next to me and asked how I got into my locker,  I was responding back to her without making eye contact, which was super super awkward!!!! I was thinking "Hey lady, you don't have a top on, go get one and I will give you all the help you need!"  I tried my best to help as quickly as possible and I hauled my now not so relaxed self out of there!!!

So this is where you come in Glam Squad! Can you please answer these questions by leaving them in the comment section below?
1. Am I crazy or do these situations bother you too?
2. Do you believe that once the woman realized they couldn't get into a locker to get a robe they should've thrown their shirts back on until they found something to cover up with?
3. What do you believe is the appropriate locker room etiquette?
4. Have you ever been in a situation like this? If so, please share!

I would like to keep this a fun and light discussion, no insulting or mean language, just some girl- talk type of discussion!

Thank for stopping by and I hope you join in!

Happy Monday Glam Squad! I hope you are lucky enough to have the day off today, enjoying an extended weekend.  I would like to thank you all for your well wishes in regards to my husband's grandmother.  Unfortunately, she passed late Tuesday night and we have been spending this past week with family and friends honoring and remembering such a special lady.  In honor of her, I am wearing the love bracelet she gave to me for the holidays in today's #ootd.
On a lighter note, let's talk shop.  I purchased this sweater in Express back in December and this look was born in the dressing room.  The sweater was love at first sight, but I didn't like that it didn't cover the hoo-ha area due to it's high-low style.  I decided to pair it with a lace tunic, to cover up this potential camel toe display area.  I love that it looks like one piece, all areas are covered, and it can be comfortably worn with leggings! Total score! If men only knew the planning that went on in woman's dressing rooms! Ha!
Thanks for stopping by lovelies and I hope you have an amazing week!

I teamed up with some amazing bloggers on Instagram to give away a $500 Visa gift card!  Click here to enter to win!

A Few of My Favorite Things

Hey Glam Squad! Hope you are having a wonderful Wednesday!
Things have been crazy around here.  Unfortunately, my husband's sweet grandmother has been in the hospital for a little over a week and has now been moved to hospice.  Needless to say, trips back and forth to the hospital have made it very difficult to take outfit pictures and really hard to focus on anything else at all.
I am hoping to bring some new outfit post to you next week, but in the meantime, I would love to share with you a few of my favorite things as of lately!  It feels good to talk about things that make me happy during a sad time.

If you follow along on Instagram, you know that I have recently tried Glam Glow mud mask after reading about it on many many blogs. The verdict: I LOVED it and loved the way my skin felt after washing it off! If you don't know if this product is for you, you can head over to Sephora and buy a small jar of this fab mud for $19! It's definitely worth a try!

I signed up this new year to receive my very own Glam Bag from Ipsy! Not familiar with Ipsy? It's a $10 monthly subscription where you receive deluxe samples and full sized beauty products to try in the comfort of your own home! When signing up, you take a beauty quiz and each month's bag is tailored to your likes! It's a glamorous surprise each month!  I cannot wait to get my first bag!

For all of my ladies who have a bun in the oven, the Snoogle total body pillow is for you! It makes sleeping on your side so much more comfortable, and provides such great belly and back support!  It's super affordable ($54.00) and makes the perfect gift!
Get your Snoogle Here

I would also like to thank everyone for taking the time to read and comment on last week's "Glam Girl Gets Personal" post.  The love and support bestowed upon me by all of you has been overwhelming and so amazing! I really have the most amazing friends, readers, and followers out there! Love you all!!

Thanks for stopping by my dashing dolls!

Glam Girl Gets Personal

Happy Thursday Glam Squad! In lieu of Monday's One Year Blogiversary celebration, I thought it was the perfect time to share with you the personal side of my journey over this past year.  The part of my journey that does not involve fashion or outfits or shopping, it's the true reason why Good Girl Gone Glam and all of you have been such an amazing and important part of my life.

Right before Good Girl Gone Glam was born, my husband and I were in the midst of trying to conceive our first child.  We had been trying since 2012 and in 2013 we decided to seek assistance from a fertility specialist after many unsuccessful months of trying on our own.  If you have not had difficulties conceiving, the first thing I want you to do is thank God (or who ever you pray to) that you were blessed with the ability to conceive naturally.  It is a greater gift than you know.

Over the many months of negative pregnancy tests, trips back and forth to the doctor, being poked and prodded, and undergoing unsuccessful fertility treatments, I noticed that I was slowly sinking into a black hole.  I stopped going to the gym, caring what I looked like, I was stressed out to the max, and I knew I was losing that twinkle in my eye.  Basically, turning into someone that I didn't recognize or want to be.  When I seemed to be standing on the edge of the proverbial "cliff",  I decided to take my situation into my own hands before I was past the point of no return.  I was not going to let this situation ruin me.  I had WAY too many positive things going on in my life to let this struggle define who I was.

I knew it was time for a distraction.  Counting the days between treatment and pregnancy tests (which was14 long ass days) was taking over my brain month after month and getting pregnant was all that consumed my mind. So, I knew it was time to do something I had wanted to do for many years but never had the guts- start a fashion blog. It was the first time in my life when the thought of starting a blog wasn't followed by one ounce of reservation in my mind.  It was time to jump in and throw all caution to the wind! Boy, was I glad that I did!

Good Girl Gone Glam was the best distraction I could have asked for.  I was tapping into my love of fashion, meeting amazing people, being inspired and supported by all of you on a daily basis.  Before I knew it, that 14 days between treatment and pregnancy test was no longer a countdown.  I was too busy with positive thoughts and didn't have time to think about what may or may not happen or the potential disappointment to follow.

In March of last year, I also started participating in the #100 Happy Days movement on Instagram. (Click here).  This activity encouraged me to find at least one positive thing in my day, proving that even when having a bad day/week/month/year, there were positive things all around me, I just had to take a step back and notice them.   If you go on Instagram and look up the hashtag "Glam girl gets happy" you can see my 100 days of pictures.

There is (as you know) a very happy ending to this story.  My husband and I are expecting our first child at the end of May and we could not be happier.  These two years were very trying and emotional for the both of us, but we ended this journey stronger individually as well as a couple.   I do not know what I would do without my sweet, amazing, thoughtful, and supportive husband as he was my rock and was by my side always reminding me that I wasn't alone in this journey.  We are also very lucky to have amazing family and friends who were there for us throughout this time, crying with us, smiling with us, cheering us on, and celebrating with us when we shared our good news.

I also owe a huge thank you to all of you, my Glaminators.  Your sweet words, comments, inspiration, friendship, and blog-love helped me get through the days when all I felt like doing was crying.  You have all done more for me than you will ever know. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I knew this was something I wanted to share because I  know there are so many woman out there going through this issue or know someone who is.  As woman, we have to support each other and no one should be ashamed of their struggles with infertility.  I came across an article of (8 things you should never say to someone struggling with infertility) that is a great read and very helpful when giving support to someone who is dealing with fertility issues.  (To read click here.)

Thank you for taking the time to read this.  It took a lot of courage to share this with you but I am proud of where I have been and where I am going and it is important for woman out there to know they aren't alone in their struggles.  No matter how dark the tunnel, there is always a light at the end.
Much love to all of you!
